On Wednesday 7th November the Year 9 Outdoor Education class participated in a surfing excursion at Forrest Caves Beach, Phillip Island. The waves were 1-2 foot, which was perfect for beginners.
The session began with observing the beach where we could see rip tides and understanding how they are formed. After some games and a lesson on the sand practicing to stand up on the surfboards, we positioned ourselves on a sand bar where the waves were breaking.
Although there were a few good wipe outs, it was fantastic to see most students catching waves and being able to stand up! Overall it was a very fun day and the class learnt some great new skills.
