Congratulations to Mikayla Newton, Year 9F, upon receiving the 2012 Community Spirit and Leadership Award at the Awards Ceremony on Monday, 10th December, 2012.
The Awards ceremony was held at the Casey Council Chambers and Anthony Byrne, the Federal Member for Holt, presented the awards.
These awards were initiated in 2001 to acknowledge students in the federal electorate of Holt, and its surrounding area, who actively contribute to their school community and also the wider community.
The 2012 Community Spirit and Leadership Awards Night was a very special one. There were 55 schools participating, with 57 students nominated to receive an award. This shows just how vibrant our young people are and the strong sense of community that is being felt in this area.
Mikayla received an award this year and was very deserving of the award. Mikayla’s efforts in her school and wider community are highly evident to all around her.
Below is a description of Mikayla from the Awards Ceremony: –
