From Monday, 27th – Friday, 31st May the Year 9 students had their CBD experience. Each morning the students were to catch the train into the city to meet their teachers and participate in numerous set activities. Some of these included a tour of the MCG, Old Treasury Building and the State Library. We also got a tour of Rod Laver Arena and were also able to play on the practice courts.
Students also went to the Digital Learning Hub in which they were able to experience creating their own piece of music. Some of the other activities included the Eureka Sky Deck, ACMI, Shrine of Remembrance tour, Salvation Army tour, the Melbourne Watch House and Old Melbourne Gaol tour. Students were given maps and directions to get to each activity, via tram or walking. They were also given time each day to separate as a class and have lunch where they chose to.
During the CBD week students were able to become more familiar with city life and public transportation. It was a great opportunity and by far one of the best experience students have at Gleneagles.
