INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS & ASSESSMENT FOR SCHOOLS (ICAS)
With its dedicated teaching team and commitment to excellence, many Gleneagles students know the excitement of achieving a personal best in their studies, sports and leadership. However, Joseph Halliwell 7E and Mahee Hossain 7E, both members of the Year 7 Select Entry Accelerated Learning (SEAL) Program, have made their mark at an extraordinary level. Both students are State winners in the International Competitions and Assessment for Schools (ICAS) program conducted by the University of NSW.
Joseph received the top score in Victoria in the 2013 ICAS English Competition, while Mahee achieved the same in the 2013 ICAS Science Competition. The scale of these achievements becomes apparent when we realise that the ICAS competitions are sat by 6,300 schools in Australia and New Zealand, as well as schools from another 20 countries including Hong Kong, India, South Africa and the USA. We would like to warmly congratulate Joseph and Mahee on their outstanding performances, whilst also acknowledging the commitment and effort of nearly 160 other high-achieving students who completed ICAS competition booklets at High Distinction, Distinction, Credit and Participation levels.
