During the course of the first semester, students from Years 8 to 11 formed the Gleneagles debating team and represented the school at interschool debates. These were held at St Margaret’s School, consisting of five rounds with a variety of different topics, including everything from sport to politics. The team attended multiple training sessions with the Melbourne University Debating Society (MUDS) where we were advised on how to enhance our debating skills.
Everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed learning, applying and enhancing their debating skills through training and interschool competitions over the two terms. It was an enjoyable experience for everyone who took part and we all gained valuable skills and knowledge along the way. We highly recommend all students take part in the school’s debating program. A special thanks to our Debating Co-ordinators, Miss Ritchie and Mr Ogden who helped and guided us through every step of the way.
