On Wednesday, 3rd December 2014 the final Instrumental Concert for the year was held. Many students were given the opportunity to perform and the audience was entertained with a variety of items including solo and ensemble works. It was encouraging to see many Year 7 students perform for the first time in ‘public’ and all seemed to adjust well to the new experience.
Thank you to all the parents, families and music staff who attended this event (in excess of 180 in the audience) and enduring the unforseen wind disturbances of the overhead fans blowing music off the stands! A high standard of playing was also demonstrated by the intermediate and senior instrumental students.
In addition to this event, the Junior Concert Band successfully performed a program of pieces at the Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre on Friday, 5th December 2014. Students walked to the shopping centre and shared their Christmas cheer with surrounding stores, shoppers and an encouraging audience. If your child wishes to keep their hired instrument over the holidays, could parents please ensure that the ‘Retaining Instruments’ form is returned to Mrs Schueler or the instrumental teacher before the end of the year. Students participating in the instrumental program this year will be given first priority to continue in 2015.
