WAVERLEY INTERNATIONAL NETBALL TOURNAMENT
On the first week of the school holidays nine girls from Year 7 to 9, represented Gleneagles and played netball against different teams from around Australia and Malaysia. It was a great experience playing netball against all different teams at all different skill levels. On the first day, we were all nervous because we hadn’t played together for long and didn’t know each other’s strengths and weaknesses on the court. Some mornings were early ones, so by the fourth day everyone was really tired. We all put in 100% effort on court all of the time. Gleneagles ended up 11th on the ladder which is a great achievement considering we played against sport academies, interstate and international teams.
In preparation, we trained every Thursday lunchtime and also trained after school. By the end we all gelled together really well and all made at least one new friend! On behalf of the team I would like to give a big thank you to Sue Tominiko, Year 12E for coaching us and the teachers who gave up their lunchtimes, after schools and holidays to either coach us or just pop down to show their support.
