Year 9 HPV Students

YEAR 9 HPV (HUMAN POWERED VEHICLE) STUDENTS

On Sunday 24th April  2016  the Gleneagles  HPV team took to the streets of Knox for the annual Knox GP HPV race organised by Bridge Builders (a volunteer youth organisation that does some fantastic work with their kids!).

It was a six  hour event with about 70 teams on track which began at 10.00am and finished at 4.00pm, we only entered one team this year but they certainly did a fantastic job in pedalling for six hours straight and clocking up more than 160kms. We walked away with 5th place in our Middle Secondary Division which is a great improvement from our last race and it is  great to see the students fitness improving! We still have plenty of work to do between now and the next race (Saturday 20th  August 2016 in Bendigo) where hopefully we can be a threat to the podium.

A special thanks to all of the parents that came to support the team and help out throughout the day and to Beth and Skye Cooper for supporting our team and assisting with marshalling. Also a massive thank you to Brett O’Shannessy for towing our trailer back to school and to Mr Neal for getting it there in the first place.

Our team also thanks Bartley Electrics for their generous sponsorship of our program.

If you or your business would like to sponsor us and join this fantastic program then please speak to Mr Bowen and the team or email Mr Bowen direct at bowen.daniel.j@edumail.vic.gov.au
