GRAFFITI PRESENTATION TO YEAR 8 STUDENTS
WEDNESDAY 14TH OCTOBER 2015
On Wednesday 14th October 2015, Gleneagles hosted a presenter from the City of Casey, who gave an engaging presentation on graffiti and street art. The presentation aimed to raise awareness of the impact that graffiti has on society and the local community. The presenters discussed various strategies to help combat graffiti and provide clarity around street art and the law. This was a very informative and valuable session for all of our Year 8 students. A special thank you to the City of Casey for providing this service

MORNING TEA FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS
YEAR 7 STUDENTS 2015
TUESDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2014, 8.50AM
You are warmly invited to come and meet other parents and Gleneagles staff over morning tea. We would love to see you. We’ll explain what our parents group does and introduce you to key staff. Arrive early to park as it is the Year 7, 2015 Orientation Day.
All students should ensure they clear their lockers by Monday 15th December 2014. Team Leaders have organised for each Year levels to clear their lockers during class time before this date. After this time, to allow scheduled maintenance to occur, all locks will be cut off lockers and unemptied lockers will be cleared. If the contents have a name on them, they will be kept and stored securely.
If items do not have a name on them, they will be donated to charity. Should your child have not cleared their locker and wish to retrieve the contents, they are to see Mr Thorne, Assistant Principal during the first week of Term 1, 2015. Any items left unclaimed by the end of the first week will not be retained.
On Wednesday 27th August, Year 8 students will attend a program aimed at educating youth about graffiti and vandalism. The program is delivered as part of a comprehensive approach to graffiti management. It will involve an interactive, entertaining presentation with the aim of involving students in thinking about and discovering the impacts of graffiti. Ultimately, it provides them with an understanding of the social and economic costs of vandalism to them and the community.

YEAR 7 UPCOMING EVENTS
Welcome to 2014! The first week of transition for the Year 7 cohort has gone very smoothly. The Year 7 students are starting to navigate their way around Gleneagles quite confidently and are settling into secondary life. There are two important Year 7 events that are fast approaching: –
Year 7 BBQ
As part of the orientation program, Gleneagles Secondary College would like to invite the parents/guardians of all Year 7 students to attend a Welcome BBQ being held on Tuesday, 11th February. Dinner will be provided along with the opportunity to meet and get to know your child’s teachers. The music department will also take the time to showcase some of the musical talent we have here at Gleneagles and also give parents the opportunity to talk to the music staff about music lessons.
Year 7 Orientation Camp
The second event is the Golden Valley Lodges Orientation Camp which will be held from the 3rd – 7th March. Please note that there are limited spots available for the camp, so make sure your forms are returned as soon as possible to avoid the disappointment of missing out. Looking forward to a fantastic year!
