IMPORTANT DATES FOR 2017 SELECT ENTRY ACCELERATED LEARNING (SEAL) PROGRAM

Listed below are some important dates regarding the SEAL Program.
WEDNESDAY 19TH APRIL 2017, 7.00PM – SEAL INFORMATION NIGHT
An Information Night will be held on Wednesday, 19th April 2017 at 7.00pm for parents/guardians interested in the SEAL Program for Year 7, 2018 students. The Information Night will be held at Gleneagles Secondary College in “the Shed”. There is no need to RSVP or make a booking. Students and parents/guardians all welcome.
THURSDAY, 27TH APRIL 2017, 12 NOON – SEAL APPLICATIONS AND EXAM PAYMENT CLOSE
The SEAL Year 7, 2017 Application (Form A) and the Parent Referral (Form B) are to be completed by parents and returned to the College Bursar by 12 noon on Thursday, 27th April 2017.
Whilst the college covers a significant portion of the cost of the SEAL testing, candidates need to pay a $30 fee to the College Bursar by 12 noon on Thursday 27th April 2017. This can be paid at the Bursar’s office between 8.00am-4.30pm weekdays when submitting the SEAL forms. The College Bursar will issue a receipt to families upon payment and lodgement of the SEAL forms. The receipt will confirm the student’s enrolment into the SEAL Exam.
The Teacher Referral Form (Form C) – parents are to give this document to the Grade 6, 2017 Teacher to complete. The teacher is required to send the Confidential document directly to the college (not via the parent).
SATURDAY, 6TH MAY, 2017, 8.45AM – 12.15PM SEAL TEST
The testing will be held on Saturday 6th May 2017 from 8.45am until 12.15pm at Gleneagles in the Shed. Students will need to bring a packed lunch and a drink. The College will contact each candidate when the results are available in mid- June 2017.
Note: Students who have not returned Form A and Form B, together with the exam fee of $30.00 by the due date of 12 noon, Thursday, 27th April 2017 will not be eligible to sit the SEAL Test on Saturday 6th May 2017.

I really like being in SEAL. I only knew one other student in the group at the start of the year but now we all get along and I fit in and have lots of friends. We have similar interests and are keen to learn. In SEAL we can look at things we are interested in depth. I do extension work and this provides a challenge and more ways to learn. I’m not bored and SEAL provides lots of opportunities.
