The City Experience allows students to explore and learn about the opportunities that a major city, Melbourne offers. Students participate in a range of activities designed to complement their studies and broaden their understanding of our city. Students will travel to and from they city via public transport and develop independence in moving around the city with their peers. Once in the city they will attend two activities each day. Venues have been chosen to ensure that students gain a wide variety of city experiences. The program has a clear educational focus and all students will be expected to complete all educational activities given in classes. As part of school lessons students will plan their travel for the week and are encouraged to use this when considering future pathways that may involve study or work in the city.
Week 1: Getting to know the City

Week 3: Sth Melbourne Market and Hosier Lane
Week 4: Treasure Hunt
Week 4: MCG
Week 6: Amazing Race
For weeks one and two, student will meet at Hallam Station at 8am and travel together as a group. For the remaining weeks students are encouraged to travel independently and meet at Federation Square. Students will be dismissed from the city to make their own way home unless supervision is requested.
The City Experience takes place each Wednesday of the term, beginning with 9A & 9B during Term 1 and runs for 6 weeks
Students will need to bring a Smart device, pens, admin handbook.
The cost of the City Experience is part of the Essential Student Learning Items (ESLI), as outlined in the fee schedule. Parents are required to meet this obligation. If you wish to use CSEF funds, draw funds from a payment plan or pay in cash, you’ll need to contact the finance office. The finance office is open from 8a.m. to 5p.m., Monday to Friday. Parents are reminded that DET does not provide student accident cover or ambulance cover. Parents are advised they should make their own arrangements for these matters.
