Students will attend The Model UN Conference, this is a creative simulation of the UN General Assembly in which senior students studying Indonesian represent member states of the UN. In teams of 3 or 4, students will try to negotiate a new UN Resolution on The Responsibility To Protect. The Model UN Conference is an opportunity for students to learn about the UN system, discuss global issues and practice their diplomacy skills in a fun, dynamic environment, while developing key negotiation and public speaking skills. This is a rare and excellent opportunity for senior Indonesian students to actively participate and practice their Indonesian speaking and writing skills in a real world experience – where they will also benefit from meeting other senior Indonesian students from schools across the state. Attending this event will expose students authentic language production, develops confidence and motivation in the subject, and will strengthen their communication, negotiation and collaboration skills. The conference takes place at the Treasury Theatre, 1 MacArthur Place, East Melbourne. Lunch will be provided. Please let Ms Van Rossum know of any dietary requirements.
Students should wear full school uniform and meet Ms Van Rossum at Federation Square at 8:30am and will be dismissed from the City at approximately 3:30pm. Students requiring travel supervision should advise Ms van Rossum
