The program enhances student’s portfolios by providing them with a range of opportunities. These opportunities will make students more employable when seeking employment in the future. Students are to select from the programs below which provide an opportunity to give back to the community. The program aims to encourage students to develop a broad range of skills and demonstrate that a successful student is measured by more than just an academic score. Permission forms will be available at the team leaders and the bursars

Accredited Programs and Cost:

Course: First Aid including CPR and AED.

Course length: One day

Location: Gleneagles Secondary College

Dates Available: 10th and 13th December.

25 students max

Pre-course questionnaire required to be completed prior to the day.

Cost: $45 per student

 

Course: Responsible Service of Alcohol

Course Length: One day.

Location: Gleneagles Secondary College

Dates Available: 11th and 13th December

30 students max each day

Cost: $60 per student

Certificate lasts 3 years. It is free to update after that time. Students must be 15 years of age to complete course. To work with alcohol students must be 18 years of age.

 

Course: Safe Food Handling

Location: Gleneagles Secondary College

Course Length: One day.

25 students max each day.

Dates Available: 11th and 13th December

Cost: $60 per student

Nationally accredited Food Safety certificates will be awarded to successful students.

 

Course: Barista (level 1) Mobile training Bus

Location: Gleneagles Secondary College

Course Length: One day.

24 students max each day.

Dates Available: 11th and 13th December

Cost: $90 per student

Successful applicants will receive a nationally accredited certificate.

 

Program: First Impressions workshop and Mock interviews

Description: Focus of workshop is on grooming and presentation for an interview and interview tips and hints. Students who participate in this program will also need to attend a preparation session on

Limited to 200 students.

Community Service Programs and Cost:

Program: Lysterfield Lake – Environmental Protection

Description: Students will spend the day at Lysterfield Lake assisting the local council with maintenance of the lake and parklands.

Location: Lysterfield Lake

Program Length: One Day

Dates Available: 12th December.

Program: Andrews Centre- Community Gardening

Description: Students will spend the day at the Community Gardens assisting with the maintenance of the community gardens.

Program: Salvation Army Kmart Wishing Tree

Description: Students will travel by bus to Doveton and will be involved in the packing and sorting of Christmas hampers and gifts to be donated to people of need. Presentation on the homeless is also included on the day. Students will need to bring a water bottle, Lunch and snacks.

Cost: $6 per student

Transport: Bus

 

Program: Transit Food Kitchen

Description: Students will travel by Bus to Transit in Webb Street Narre Warren. The students will be packing groceries, handing out food and clearing tables for the homeless. Students need to bring a water bottle.
