This semester Year 9 Journalism students have focused on identifying issues relevant to them, how to research, practising interviewing skills, how to construct different types of written articles, how to produce a podcast, how photojournalism helps to tell a story, and how to construct photographs to enhance their own articles. The organised tour at Syn Radio will give students a real life experience of radio journalism and an opportunity they can pursue beyond the classroom. Visiting the NGV Festival of Photography will give students an opportunity to practice their skills of analysing the intended effect of photographic elements on the audience. This analysis will feed into a photo taking activity between the NGV, Flinders Street Station and Federations Square to practise the skills required as a photo journalist.
Students should meet Ms Farrell at Hallam Station at 8.25 and will travel Train into Central Station.
