PART 1
PART 2
It has been another busy and rewarding few weeks at Gleneagles Secondary College, with many opportunities for our students to demonstrate leadership, participate in community events and engage in exciting learning experiences both inside and beyond the classroom. I am pleased to share some highlights from across the College.
Open Night & Principal Tours
The College is hosting its annual Open Night on Thursday 26th March at 6pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for prospective students and their families to explore all that we offer at Gleneagles.
There will be interactive displays run by every Learning Area, as well as opportunities to learn more about our SEAL program and Melbourne City Football School program. The evening will begin in the Theatre with a short information session, before families head off on either a guided or self-guided tour of the College.
I am also conducting Principal-led tours of the school every Thursday morning at 9am for prospective students and families. These tours provide a great opportunity to observe the daily life of the school in action and discuss the many learning opportunities available at Gleneagles.
We look forward to welcoming many new families to our College community.
Celebrating Student Leadership at Gleneagles
On Tuesday 3rd March, we held our Whole School Leadership Assembly, led by our College Captains and Vice Captains. The assembly began with a wonderful rendition of the National Anthem performed by Nisha Naresh Kumar and Oliver Kennedy, followed by an energetic Bruno Mars mash-up performed by one of our talented school bands.
During the assembly, we proudly presented badges to our Spirit Ambassador, Year Level Captains, House Captains and Subject Captains, recognising the important leadership roles these students will play within our College community this year.
We also heard from our 2025 Dux, Jasmine Thomas, who shared valuable advice and encouragement with our current Year 12 students as they approach their final year of schooling.
In my Principal’s address, I spoke about Leadership and what that looks like within our Gleneagles RISE values:
“We are living in a time where the world can at times feel uncertain. News travels quickly. Opinions can be loud. Challenges can feel complex and, at times, divisive. In moments like these, strong leadership matters more than ever — and strong leadership is grounded in respect, inclusion, courage and integrity.
The kind of leadership we practise here at Gleneagles is values-driven. It is calm in the face of challenge. It seeks understanding rather than division. It chooses inclusion over exclusion. It focuses on what we can control — our actions, and the way we treat others. I am sure you would all agree that this is exactly the type of leadership our world also needs.”
Congratulations to all our leaders and thank you to all the parents, carers and families who attended the assembly and morning tea that followed.
Iftar Dinner
Last week, members of our community came together to celebrate Ramadan at our annual Iftar Dinner. It was a privilege to attend this community event as we gathered in the Senior Centre to share food and conversation at the breaking of the fast.
This event continues to grow each year, and it was fantastic to see approximately 90 students, parents and staff in attendance. The evening provided the opportunity for our community to come together, learn more about the significance of Ramadan, and celebrate the diversity that makes Gleneagles such a welcoming and inclusive school.
Thank you to everyone who helped organise the evening and to the families who joined us to share in this meaningful occasion.
GSC Year 8 Students shine at MCFC Champions League
Some of our Year 8 Melbourne City Football School (MCFC) students were selected to represent the College at last week’s AFC Champions League match at AAMI Park. I had the great pleasure of joining a number of parents in watching our students shine as they ably represented Gleneagles and supported the Melbourne City team.
It was a fantastic experience for our students to be part of such a significant event and to see professional football at the highest level up close. In an exciting match against Buriram FC, Melbourne City scored a very late goal to finish the game in a draw, creating a thrilling atmosphere in the stadium.
Experiences like this are a wonderful reminder of the opportunities our partnership with Melbourne City Football School provides for our students, both on and off the pitch.
Camps & Excursions
It has been a busy and exciting period for our students, with many opportunities to learn beyond the classroom through camps, excursions and sporting events.
Some recent highlights include:

Community Consultation School Uniform Review
Gleneagles Secondary College is seeking feedback from our community regarding a potential update to elements of our school uniform.
Student voice has played an important role in prompting this discussion, with feedback highlighting a preference for options that are durable, easy to care for and comfortable across all seasons. Before any decisions are made, we value the perspectives of our students, families and staff. Your feedback will help inform the consideration of any proposed changes.
Survey links have been sent to all families via Compass and will close 8pm Sunday 15th March.
