Wellbeing Weekly: Balancing Stress

Each week Gleneagles provide our Wellbeing News - your space for practical tips and conversations around health and wellbeing. Each edition explores a variety of topics designed to inspire wellbeing across our community.

When you’re doing assessments, it’s normal to feel some stress, and that’s okay! A little bit of stress can actually help you focus, stay motivated, and do your best.

This graph shows how stress affects how well you perform.

  • Too little stress → You might feel bored, unmotivated, or distracted
  • A helpful level of stress → You feel focused, alert, and ready to do your best
  • Too much stress → You can feel overwhelmed and struggle to think clearly

The goal is to find your balance zone — where you have enough stress to help you focus, but not so much that it becomes overwhelming.

Tip: If you feel too stressed, try strategies like deep breathing or taking a short break to get back into your balance zone, and talk to a teacher or trusted adult if it feels like too much.
