Each week Gleneagles provide our Wellbeing News - your space for practical tips and conversations around health and wellbeing. Each edition explores a variety of topics designed to inspire wellbeing across our community.
Staying organised and looking after yourself can make a big difference during exam time. Here are some practical strategies to help you study effectively and perform best on the day.
Practical Tips to Help with Study and Wellbeing
- Keep a regular routine: get enough sleep, eat well, and make time for exercise and fun
- Prioritise sleep – it helps your brain store information into long-term memory
- Use rewards (e.g. a break, TV episode, or walk) after completing tasks
- Stay focused on study and try to limit distractions or outside worries
- Eat balanced, healthy meals and avoid too much junk food
- Limit caffeine and drink plenty of water
- Take time to relax and recharge (deep breathing, music, meditation)
Ideas for Exam Day
- Get organised: pack everything the night before
- Eat a light, healthy breakfast for energy and focus
- Arrive prepared and use the bathroom beforehand
- If anxious, slow your breathing to calm your body
- When you sit down to start your exam, take a moment to relax and settle
- Read questions carefully and underline key instructions
- Work out how long you have for each question or section
- Start with easier questions to build confidence
- Aim to leave time to check and improve your answers where needed
Key takeaway:
Good habits + self-care strategies = better performance. Look after your body and mind, and trust the work you've put in.
